Our story
Frank and Eugenia 'Gena' Romeo purchased their Calistoga vineyard in 1996, drawn to a remarkable block of old-vine Cabernet first planted in 1971. They nursed the estate back to health with Bordeaux-clone replanting and released their inaugural Cabernet Sauvignon soon after — the start of a family commitment to elegant, age-worthy Napa Valley wines bottled under the Sempre Vive ('always alive') label.
In downtown Calistoga, the family restored an 1885 carriage house and opened it as a tasting room, set within gardens shaded by century-old redwoods and cedars. Guests are welcomed through jasmine- and rose-covered arches to taste on the garden patio, with indoor tastings available by request.
In their words
Clint and Emma were very accommodating, and by far the best tasting room you will find in all of Napa Valley.
