Our story
The Meeker Family Story
Molly and Charlie Meeker started home winemaking in a basement in the early 1970s, and in 1977 they bought their first vineyard at the end of West Dry Creek Road in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. They founded The Meeker Vineyard in 1984, with Charlie as winemaker, earning early acclaim for Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
Today the winery is run by the second generation. Son Lucas joined full-time in 2007, starting by scrubbing tanks and washing glasses and working his way up to head winemaker. Together the family focuses on big, characterful reds — hand-pressing their colorful signature handprints onto thousands of bottles of Winemaker's Handprint Merlot each year.
The tasting room sits just a block off the Healdsburg Plaza in a restored early-1900s bank building. It is known for a relaxed, genuinely fun experience that is decidedly not snobby, where Charlie and the team love to share wild stories from decades of winemaking.
