Our story
A Life in Balance
Mueller Winery was founded in Healdsburg in 1991 by winemaker Bob Mueller, with a clear vision: to make small lots of premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A UC Davis graduate with a master's in Food Science and Enology, Bob learned his craft at wineries including Foppiano and Charles Krug before striking out on his own.
The first release under the Mueller label was a 1991 Russian River Valley Chardonnay — just 315 cases, limited but extremely well received. His Pinot Noir debut followed with the 1994 'Emily's Cuvée,' only 266 cases, which sold out immediately. Knowing the cool climate and terroir of the Russian River Valley were ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Bob still spends much of his time walking the vineyards.
Today Mueller remains a small, family-run winery in the Russian River appellation, with a relaxed tasting room in downtown Healdsburg where you may well be poured by Bob himself.

Really good wine, and friendly tasting room staff. If you are not fortunate enough to meet Bob, Toby has amazing knowledge — you just will not want to leave.

Greeted by Bob the owner and tended to by Joan, we had an enjoyable visit with some of the better Pinot and Chardonnay in Sonoma.
