Owner Sahar Gharai pours some sixty wines from around the world, alongside small plates her mother makes fresh each day.
Our story
La Dolce Vita began with a semester in Florence. Studying abroad from UC Berkeley, Petaluma-raised Sahar Gharai fell for the city's enotecas, where you could taste a wine, linger over crostini, and carry a bottle home. She took the name from the very first wine bar she stepped into there.
She opened La Dolce Vita in Petaluma's theatre district in 2007, just across from the movie house. The list runs roughly sixty wines, leaning toward the high-acid, lower-oak Italian bottles she loves but reaching across the globe and into nearby Sonoma. Every pour is available as a taste, so any flight can be built to your liking.
The food is homemade and prepared daily by Sahar's mother, Farideh. After more than fifteen years, regulars are treated less like customers and more like friends — 'I don't think of them as customers,' Sahar says. 'I think of them as my family.'
