Treehorn opened in downtown Santa Rosa in 1979 and has stayed exactly what it set out to be — a general used bookstore with a large and varied inventory, run by people who love books and know where things are. The name comes from a children's book, which is why the children's section has been a specialty from the start.

Readers keep calling it a hidden gem and a book lover's heaven. The store would rather just keep the shelves full and the door open.
