A room of one's own.

Second Chances is Brandy's shop — forty years of bookselling distilled into one well-chosen room in downtown Sebastopol. The popular and the peculiar, the beautiful and the thoughtful, all waiting for their next reader. Yours, perhaps.

    The Thoughtful

The books that ask something of you, and give more back

The Bookseller

Forty years among the shelves.

Brandy has been a bookseller for four decades and a reader for even longer. She worked at Aardvark Books, managed Copperfield's Used Books for twelve years, and co-owned Mockingbird Books — a whole career of learning which books deserve a second life.

In December 2017 she finally opened a shop of her own. It's the kind of place where the person behind the counter has actually read the spines.
