Glenn and Melissa Alexander left the business world for a nine-acre old-vine vineyard and a farmhouse in the Russian River Valley. What came out of it is Sanglier — small-lot wines, dry-farmed close to the ground, made for the dinner table rather than the trophy shelf.

The Wines

A short list, done right.

Sanglier makes in lots of roughly 100 to 400 cases — the kind of numbers that only work when every barrel gets attention. The range reads Sonoma County with a clear nod to the South of France and the Northern Rhône.

The Farm

It starts in the dirt.

Glenn Alexander has sustainably farmed more than thirty premier vineyards across Sonoma County. His conviction is simple: exceptional sites and focused farming are the building blocks of every great wine — long before anything reaches a barrel.

That means no chemical shortcuts. The canopy is adjusted by hand for sun and shade, the soils are improved organically, and irrigation is limited or cut entirely to push the vines toward ripe tannins and pure flavor. Clean, fresh, honest wine — the product of hard work.

The tasting room sits a short walk from the Healdsburg Plaza — a bright, easy room to sit and work through a small-production lineup with the people who made it. Walk-ins are welcome; friends always are.

It's French for wild boar — a creature at home in the vineyards and on the tables of both France and Sonoma County, and a fitting mascot for wine made by hand and farmed close to the ground.
